CĂTĂLIN PÎSLARU

Within the Artists-in-Residence Program, CCA is delighted to host the artist Catalin Pislaru. Born in 1988 in Chisinau, Moldova, Pislaru’s approach is a vivid exploration into drawing based on conceptual construction and free-handed gesture. His compositions are built by delicate, barely noticeable pencil lines intersecting with pigment-thick contours of monochrome shapes. In his latest works organic forms morph into cuneiform shapes. The figurative dissolves into abstraction, yet never fully escapes the composition. Catalin currently lives and works in Munich and will be staying in Studio Azul during December 2022.
