BERIT

SCHNEIDEREIT

Within the Artist-in-Residence Program, CCA is delighted to host Berit Schneidereit. Schneidereit was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, 1988. She lives and works in Düsseldorf and she is staying in Studio Azul during February 2020.

The artist studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf under Hubert Kiecol and Andreas Gursky, where she graduated as a master student in 2017. She has received the dhCS-Studio Grant from the Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen, Düsseldorf, as well as the van-Rinsum grant from the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris.

Berit Schneidereit's hybrid images created from analogue and digital imaging processes alternate between pictorial narration and formal abstraction. In addition, she uses specific techniques such as photograms in her work. With this variety of forms of expression in photography, the artist repeatedly challenges the pictorial space by enabling us to experience the depth of the image in a nearly sculptural way.
