HELEN

SEAR

Within the Artist-in-Residence Program, CCA is delighted to host Helen Sear.

Sear was born in Wales, UK, 1955. She lives and works in Wales and France and she is staying in Studio Azul during December 2019.

Helen Sear studied Fine Art at Reading University and the Slade School, University College London. Her works are in several private and public collections, including National Museum Wales, Glynn Vivian Museum, Gallery Swansea Wales, Ernst & Young, Victoria and Albert Museum, Arts Council of Wales, Arts Council of Great Britain and the British Council.

Sear’s work explores the materiality of vision, often combining hand drawn or erased elements with photography to disrupt the conventional fixed-point perspective associated with the medium. She also works with moving image and mixed media installations.

Sear was the first woman to represent Wales with a solo exhibition at the 56th Venice Biennale 2015.
